What do they do?

Community Builders provide multiple services ranging from counselling, teaching, training, educating, and mentoring in their field of expertise. They know the people in their own communities and their needs. Often, they work long hours tirelessly and sometimes even risk their lives.

Why Community Builders?

Community Builders have a massive trust among their own people. They have a life of integrity, honesty, and great ethics. They also have a proven track record of their service. They are equipped with the local language and culture. Unlike employing foreign workers, they are cost effective and in plenty supply. They are willing to pay the price to reach their own people.

How do they work?

Community Builders work independently but often in a team of people. They strategize, evaluate, and execute plans that are most beneficial to the local needs. They walk for hours or pedal their bicycles for miles to provide service to their own people. They visit the sick, teach in community centers, and provide other valuable services.

When do they work?

Community Builders do not have nine to five jobs. They are on call 24/7. They easily work 60-80 hours every week. They work through scorching summers or freezing cold temperatures. In most cases they don’t take formal holidays other than to visit their relatives or to attend to emergency situations.

Where do they work?

Community Builders work in the local schools, health clinics, churches and community centers. They primarily work in the poor and slum communities where the situation is the worst and people need the most help. Community workers are scattered throughout the country in villages, towns, and mega cities.

How Can You Help?

With the rise of nationalism, over 85 percent of Asian countries do not allow foreign workers to come and work freely. You can help by supporting a Community Builder to keep them on the job. It takes between US$200 and US$400 per month (depending on the size of the family and location) to support a Community Builder. You can help support one worker with a monthly donation of $100 (partial). As a sponsor, you learn about your worker and their family and pray for the success of their endeavor. Once you become a sponsor, your worker’s picture and life story will be sent to you promptly.
